Harvest 2015

We are so thankful for the money, food and toiletries we receive at Harvest. The support the local community show New Hope in September and October is staggering.

We rely on donations to help us provide accommodation, support and development to people who are homeless or vulnerably housed in the local area. Through the generosity of the donations given both at Harvest and throughout the year, we can give help to give those who have lost everything the support they need as well as hope for the future. This support includes working alongside individuals to get them back into work, helping them to find their own accommodation and giving them food which they would not otherwise have been able to afford.

As the number of people who need support across the UK rises, we see that partnering with other local organisations who help people in need is extremely important. Once again, we will be sharing the food that is donated with Watford Foodbank and the Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership.

We also see an increasing need to educate younger generations about homelessness as housing prices rise and benefits for 18-25s are cut. One of the ways we have chosen to do this is by holding a colouring competition for primary school children throughout Harvest. All the proceeds from this competition will go back into the work of New Hope. We will also be going into schools again to speak to pupils about homelessness.
