St Albans Sleepout

  • Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban AL1 1BY (map)

The annual sponsored sleepout in the grounds of St Albans Abbey will be taking place on Friday 2nd December 2016. New Hope will be one of eleven charities that will benefit from this event and we would love you to take part. The event runs from 9pm-7am and there is access to toilets and hot drinks throughout the night.

The idea of the event is to spend a night sleeping rough in order to raise money for your chosen homelessness charity. It gives a small insight into what it might be like to sleep rough.

If you have any questions or would like to be involved, please email Sam or call him on 01923 227 132.

“The temperature was down to -3°C during the night and in the morning there was frost on my survival bag. It was uncomfortable and I didn’t really sleep.

I would say the best bit was going home but actually it was the worst; knowing that sleeping rough is some people’s only option when I had the choice to do it was difficult to digest. It was definitely an eye-opening experience and it made me extremely grateful for what I have.”
