Watford Winter Shelter Waking Night Support Worker

The Watford Winter Shelter was launched last winter and ran from 1 December to 31 March. It will be running again this winter, once again funded by Watford Borough Council and in partnership with One YMCA. Last year, the shelter helped 105 individuals and 36 of these moved onto accommodation. The shelter is staffed each night by one member of staff assisted by three volunteers (two of whom sleep in and one goes at 11pm). Previous staff members have gone on to work for New Hope in other roles.

People using the shelter need a referral to access one of the 15 beds (either from New Hope or from the police) and people can arrive from 9 o’clock. The staff member is responsible for the smooth running of the shelter ensuring that an effective and efficient service is provided to the men and women accessing the Watford Winter Shelter.

The Watford Winter Shelter is an essential service ensuring that no one has to sleep on the streets of Watford in the cold and wet winter months. This service cannot run unless we have committed and enthusiastic staff members. Could you be one of them?

Please look at the attached document for further details.
