Free flu jabs extended to people experiencing homelessness
NHS England is offering free flu jabs for the first time specifically for people sleeping rough, in hostels or night shelters. This is a positive move welcomed by New Hope as we focus on improving “the general health, wellbeing and life expectancy for people experiencing homelessness in Watford” as per our Cornerstone strategy.
We are delighted to be working in partnership with Meadowell Services to provide flu jabs to people accessing New Hope services.
As Caroline Temmink, NHS Director of Vaccination, said: "The NHS is for everyone, and we know that people who are homeless face greater health risks from flu, so it’s right they should receive the same potentially life-saving protection as other eligible at-risk groups. This is an important decision in tackling health inequalities…"
