First ever Homeless Health Day at St Mary's Church with One YMCA

St Mary’s Church was the perfect location for New Hope’s first ever Homeless Health Day run in conjunction with One YMCA. St Mary’s was where New Hope started back in the late 80s and early 90s so it’s an important location for us as a charity and secondly, it is not only a beautiful building but also incredibly cool - essential during this red heat health alert.

Bringing together different organisations under one roof enables people experiencing health inequalities to access vital healthcare as well as deepening relationships between service providers - ultimately helping those we exist to help!

87 different people attended throughout the day to access services with a myriad of benefits - from the immediate boost of a haircut, a massage and new trainers to longer-term health needs such as liver health, smoking cessation advice, and dental care.

The day was attended by a range of services, including

  • Hepatitis C Trust

  • Community Dental Bus

  • Meadowell Services

  • Change Grow Live - addiction support

  • Healthy Hub - smoking cessation

  • Everyone Active

  • Ascend - wellbeing

  • One Impossible Thing - free trainers

  • Watford Foodbank - Talking Therapies service

  • Citizens Advice

  • Charis Tiwala

  • The Massage Company

  • Hair by Danny
