Volunteer Befriender - Recovery Servuces

Hours: We need volunteers on Tuesday mornings, 9.30am to 12.30pm

Frequency: Ideally once per week

Location: Watford area

New Hope Recovery Services offers service users a safe and supportive environment in which to begin their recovery from substance addiction. Residents are supported 24 hours a day by on-site staff; can attend weekly Alcoholics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous meetings and have access to Cultivate, New Hope’s in-house wellbeing programme.

Our Recovery Services Accommodation is looking for befrienders to spend a few hours each week with one of our residents to build their confidence by talking with them, encouraging them to engage with old or new interests and to accompany them outside the Recovery Services accommodation during their first 28 days residence.

Volunteers must be aged 18 years or over; be able to commit to a regular schedule of volunteering; be able to follow instructions and work within a set of guidelines. Befrienders must adhere to confidentiality rules at all times; respect the dignity and privacy of service users and liaise with staff to share relevant information. Online training for the role will be provided.

For more information about this role, contact Nic Platt on 01923 210 680 or by emailing nplatt@newhope.org.uk. To apply for this role, please click the button below.
