Another successful New Hope Health Day

One of New Hope’s four key strategic objective’s is to Prioritise Health: we want to facilitate measures to improve the general health, wellbeing and life expectancy for people experiencing homelessness in Watford.

New Hope Health Days are a critical part of fulfilling this objective as we gather service providers, such as the Hepatitis C Trust, CGL, Hertfordshire Mind, Charis Tiwala, Ophthalmic Clarity, One Impossible Thing, The Massage Company, Positive Reflex Therapy, Haircuts 4 Homeless, and Maverick Humanity. together in the safe and familiar environment of the Haven.

On Thursday 22nd May, we held our latest health day, attended by 59 individuals from across New Hope’s services or living in other local hostel accommodation.

  • 21 people accessed liver scans

  • 20 people were tested for bloodborne viruses

  • 18 people enjoyed a haircut from Haircuts 4 Homeless

  • 10 people appreciated a massage from The Massage Company

  • 17 people had their eyes tested, with 15 people prescribed glasses from Ophthalmic Clarity

  • 13 people accessed CGL for support with addiction

  • One Impossible Thing distributed 17 pairs of trainers

  • CGL gave out 18 naxolones

We were grateful to Maverick Humanity for cooking a delicious BBQ so that the event had a fun community feel.
