Underwriters to tackle Thames Bridges to fight homelessness

A team from Touchstone Underwriting based at Watford Junction, will lace up their walking boots on Saturday, September 12, to take on the famous Thames Bridges Challenge, raising funds for the homelessness charity New Hope.

Touchstone Underwriting is a UK-based commercial insurance underwriting agency with a team of 40 employees. Headquartered in Watford, the business also has offices in London, Chelmsford and Dumfries, enabling it to deliver responsive underwriting expertise and tailored insurance solutions to brokers across the country.

The team - Megan Hardway, Rachel Gower, Abbi Dalton, Amy Mead and Sabri Maliqi -  will set off from Putney Bridge and head east towards the city, zig-zagging the Thames over 16 historic bridges – and a mid-point rest stop at The Oval Cricket Ground for snacks and drinks. The trek will take them 25 kilometres over four to seven hours, finishing at Southwark Park, and help them raise money and awareness for the charity.

Touchstone Underwriting said the team was proud to support an organisation making such an important difference in the local community.

Megan Hardway, a trainee underwriter at Touchstone, said: “We’re really looking forward to taking on the Thames Path Challenge together and, most importantly, raising money for New Hope.

“Homelessness is an issue that affects communities across the country, including here in Watford, and we wanted to do something practical to support the fantastic work being carried out by New Hope.

“Twenty-five kilometres is certainly going to be a challenge, but knowing that we’re doing it to raise money for such a worthwhile local charity will keep us going when the miles start to feel tough. “
