Beacon CRM Data Breach

Information for New Hope’s supporters

We are writing to let you know about a cybersecurity incident involving one of our trusted service providers, Beacon, a relationship management tool which charities use to manage supporter information.

Beacon has informed us that it experienced unauthorised access to its systems. As part of its ongoing investigation, Beacon believes that copies of its database backups, which may include information relating to our supporters, were likely accessed and downloaded by an unauthorised party.

At this stage, there is no evidence that your personal information has been misused, and Beacon has advised that it has not identified any of the data appearing online. However, because your information may have been included in the affected data, we wanted to let you know what has happened and the steps we are taking.

The information held in our Beacon system may include your name and contact details, your history of support for our organisation, and other information you have provided to us. We do not store payment card details in Beacon.

As soon as we became aware of the incident, we began assessing the potential impact with support from Beacon and are following the guidance provided by the relevant authorities. Beacon has engaged specialist cybersecurity experts, implemented additional security measures, and continues to investigate the incident.

While we are not aware of any misuse of your information, we recommend remaining alert to unexpected emails, phone calls or messages claiming to be from our organisation or other trusted organisations that ask you to provide personal information or passwords. If you receive any communication that seems unusual, please contact us directly using our normal contact details before responding.

We understand that news like this may be concerning. Protecting the information entrusted to us is extremely important, and we are committed to keeping you informed. If we receive any new information that changes our understanding of the incident or requires you to take further action, we will contact you promptly.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us by emailing dataofficer@newhope.org.uk

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
