Touchstone Underwriting team takes on Thames Bridges Trek

A team from Touchstone Underwriting at Iveco House, Watford, took on the challenge of the Thames Bridges Trek at the weekend, completing the gruelling route together in an impressive 5 hours and 30 minutes.

The trek has already raised £2,600 for New Hope and the money is still coming in!

The team tackled the event with huge determination, team spirit and good humour - even when the miles began to take their toll.

Touchstone’s Rachel Gower said: “We had an incredible team to walk with. I finished a half marathon the week before and still found the energy and power in my legs!”

The team’s positive attitude was helped along by some strong encouragement from their colleagues. Abbi Dalton played a key role in keeping everyone moving, pushing the team through to the finish line while keeping spirits high.

Sabri Maliqi also helped keep the momentum going, providing plenty of motivation and ensuring the conversation kept flowing throughout the challenge.

And there was even time for a little refreshment stop along the way. Despite battling blisters and aching legs, Megan Hardway and Amy Mead managed to squeeze in a quick ice lolly break before continuing on their way.

After five and a half hours of walking, the team finally crossed the finish line - tired, no doubt, but proud of what they had achieved together.

The team’s efforts have also made a fantastic contribution to their fundraising campaign. So far, they have raised an impressive £2,622, and they’re not stopping there.

“We are still pushing for more!” Rachel said.

With the trek now complete, thoughts are already turning towards what could come next. The team is exploring more extreme fundraising challenges, although nothing has been decided just yet.

Whatever challenge they choose, their Thames Bridges Trek experience has shown that with teamwork, determination and a good supply of conversation - plus the occasional ice lolly - they can go a long way together.
