HopeHomes celebrates 10 years transforming lives in Watford

HopeHomes, the housing programme run by New Hope, is celebrating 10 years of providing safe, affordable accommodation and ongoing tenancy support to people who have previously been homeless in Watford.

Since launching in 2016, HopeHomes has helped transform the lives of more than 70 people by offering more than just a roof over their heads. The scheme provides affordable housing alongside tailored tenancy support, helping residents build stability, develop life skills, regain independence and create brighter futures after experiencing homelessness.

Over the past decade, HopeHomes has become a vital part of New Hope's mission to end homelessness in the community.

The scheme helps residents develop the confidence and skills needed to sustain their residency licences, manage finances, access employment and training opportunities, and reconnect with their communities. This holistic approach recognises that ending homelessness means more than providing somewhere to live - it means helping people keep their homes and rebuild their lives.

From its humble roots and a first property, there are now four HopeHomes in the New Hope portfolio providing accommodation for 17 men and women who would otherwise have nowhere to call home.  

New Hope’s deputy Chief Executive Rob Edmonds said: "Reaching our tenth anniversary is a significant milestone and an opportunity to celebrate the incredible achievements of everyone who has been part of the HopeHomes journey.

“Over the past ten years, we've seen first-hand how the combination of affordable housing and dedicated support can transform lives. We delight in the fact that every new HopeHomes resident has been given the chance to move forward with dignity, security and hope.

"We are incredibly grateful to all our residents, staff, partners and supporters, who have made HopeHomes possible. Together, we've helped people who once faced homelessness to build stable futures, and we're committed to continuing that work for many years to come."

One satisfied HopeHomes resident said: “I am very happy and I like the level of support I receive. I feel safe and I like my weekly catch-up. It’s good to know if I have an issue New Hope staff will be there to help and advise. It is very reassuring.”

The anniversary comes at a time when demand for affordable housing continues to grow, with many people facing increasing financial pressures and housing insecurity. HopeHomes remains committed to expanding opportunities for local people to access safe, affordable accommodation and the support they need to maintain it.
